Jeff, a middle-aged, blue-collar worker, is attempting to talk with God for the first time since he was a child. He has just returned from a funeral service for a coworker named Frank. Frank was killed in a car accident in which Jeff was injured. Jeff is angry and confused, trying to sort out why Frank was killed and he was only injured; yet this biggest fear is dying like Frank with no one really caring. He struggles with a deep feeling that his life doesn't count. During his conversation with God, Jeff mentions how Frank would often speak of Him. Jeff relies upon this information as he attempts to communicate with God. Although Jeff feels Frank 's life didn't count for anything important, it becomes obvious he is attempting to come to God because of Frank's influence.
